Girl Scout Programs

 

Once a date has been designated for a specific Girl Scout program, other girls/troops may sign up for that program until it reaches capacity.

Brownies

Space Scientist (Our Own Council Badge)

Become a space scientist for the day at the Challenger Learning Center. Participants will practice their communication and problem-solving skills through a series of team building activities. In addition, Brownies will build a rocket, and work together in a hands-on space mission simulation to Mars, the Moon or a comet.

Space Science Adventurer Workshop

Join us for an exciting adventure through space to learn about our planetary neighbors, explore the stars, and investigate Earth’s Moon. Brownies will experience our planetarium, create constellations, and go on a mission to the International Space Station in search of new objects in our solar system.

This workshop is designed to guide Brownies through steps 1-4 of the Space Science Adventurer Badge. Step 5 requires them to share their new space knowledge with others, and while we are unable to complete this step during the workshop, we will help the girls brainstorm different ways to fulfill this step within their communities.

Journey Session – WOW! Wonders of Water*

Make the Challenger Learning Center part of your Journey. Learn about water conservation, the water cycle, and the importance of staying hydrated. Participants will complete three requirements for the WOW! Wonders of Water Leadership Journey–part of the It’s Your Planet-Love It! series. The session includes a mini space mission simulation to search for water in our solar system.

Juniors

Junior Space Traveler (Our Own Council Badge)

Become an experienced space traveler right here on Earth! Learn about Mars, comets, and the Moon, make plans for your journey, and then apply your new knowledge by embarking on a space mission to study a comet.

Space Science Investigator Workshop

Come explore space with us as we map out our solar system, go on a scavenger hunt through space, and discover how scientists learn about other planets. Participants will visit our planetarium, create a solar system model, learn how to navigate the stars, and go on a mission as Mars Pioneers in search of water and life on the red planet.

This workshop is designed to guide Juniors through steps 1-4 of the Space Science Investigator Badge. Step 5 requires them to share their new space knowledge with others, and while we are unable to complete this step during the workshop, we will help the girls brainstorm different ways to fulfill this step within their communities.

Journey Session – Get Moving!*

Make the Challenger Learning Center part of your Journey. Explore the world of energy by studying your “carbon footprint” and learning some creative ways to recycle. Junior Girl Scouts will complete four requirements for the Get Moving! Leadership Journey – part of the It’s Your Planet – Love It! Series and participate in a space mission simulation. Participants will earn the Investigate and Energize awards during the workshop. The Innovate Award requires them to share their new knowledge with others, and while we are unable to complete this step during the workshop, we will help the girls brainstorm different ways to fulfill this step within their communities.

Cadettes/Seniors

Space Mission Simulation

After preparing for a space mission by participating in communication, problem solving and team building activities, Cadettes will embark on a mission to the Moon, Mars, or a comet and  take on roles similar to NASA astronauts, scientists and engineers.
